KAMPALA — Bizarre conspiracy theories that the National Resistance Movement Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba has faked her COVID-19 positive result to avoid accountability scrutiny for funds of the ongoing campaigns are flooding social media.

In her statement released on Monday, Ms Lumumba said; “this is to inform the leadership and fraternity of NRM and the country at large that three of my handlers with whom I work with, yesterday tested positive for COVID-19.”

“I have therefore taken advice from our scientists to immediately enter into self-quarantine as a precautionary measure, while I wait for results of the rapid test I have had to take,” Ms Lumumba wrote.

However, some theories suggest that SG Lumumba who is in isolation faked her positive result, to downplay accountability demands at the party secretariat after she became the centre of the storm with delegates who attend incumbent President Museveni campaign meetings receiving less facilitation money than they are supposed to.

Last week, Parliament Speaker Rebecca Kadaga threw a spanner in the works she accused Lumumba of embezzling money meant for youth in the Busoga region. The youth reportedly received UGX 150,000 each yet the party budget was UGX 250,000.

Ms Lumumba’s eternal foe, Dr. Tanga Odoi who is the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission at the NRM secretariat also has no kind words for Lumumba saying they are on the verge of being evicted from their offices on Plot. 13 Kyadondo Road in Nakasero for non-payment of rent over the past three years.
