KAMPALA – New Vision Group has approached Daily Monitor seasoned editor Michael Agaba with a view to adding him to their election coverage team ahead of the 2021 elections, PML Daily has learnt.

This website understands that New Vision is working to put together a team that will effectively cover the 2021 polls. The company has invested a lot in the digital paper as well.

And according to sources at New Vision, Agaba is looked at an ideal person to add onto their election coverage team. Agaba, also known as Barinks among his peers, is a seasoned editor with over 10 years of experience in the newsroom.

“Yes, we need him. He was recommended to us by people who have previously worked with him. We want him,” a source at New Vision, who did not want to be named told PML Daily in an interview on Thursday, 12 November 2020.

Sources added that at Monitor, Agaba is not happy saying his career growth has been partly stifled by its promotion policy, which has sometimes frustrated some young talents.

Soft-spoken Agaba holds a Master’s Degree in Media Policy Studies from the University of Alberta in Canada, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Makerere University and Bachelor of Arts in Education (Literature) from Makerere University.

At Daily Monitor, he has worked as a sub editor, supplements editor and is now on the news desk as an editor.

When contacted, Agaba could neither deny nor confirm the development. “Watch this space,” he added.
