KAMPALA – Singer Sadat Mukiibi better known by his stage name Khalifa Aganaga is in the spotlight over a leaked audio clip of a replica of his hit song ‘Kibooko’ that featured Dr Jose Chameleone.

In the audio, with changed lyrics, the Rubaga South MP hopeful heaps praises on the incumbent and NRM flag bearer Yoweri Museveni in a song that appears to be a campaign theme for president Museveni.

The audio outlines the achievements of Museveni ever since he captured power in 1986. It also compares him to the past leaders of Uganda saying he has surely steered the country to the right direction.

Some of the lyrics go like ‘Akalulu tokawa oyo fala, Ono Muzeeyi Fire, nkamuwa nkamuwa nkamuwa’ loosely translated as “Do not give the vote to the other person, give it to Mzeyi who is Fire’ and Khalifah goes on to outline the achievements of Museveni in the different sectors of the economy.

This has not been received well by both Khalifa’s fans and NUP supporters who look at Khalifah as someone who has double crossed them.

However Khalifah has disassociated himself with the new song saying he knows nothing about it. He claims he cannot come up with such a project when NRM strong horns in the entertainment sector like Balaam Barugahara, Catherine Kusasira and Full Figure know nothing about.

“In the past, I had the same problem with the Elly Wamala family. Someone with a similar voice like mine did Elly Wamala’s song ‘Ani Yali amanyi’ and the family was very bitter with me. I kept on telling them I did not do the song but no one believed me until the actual person who did it finally came out, I am sure this shall come to pass as well,” he said.

Sources however intimate that the song dubbed ‘Muzeei Kibooko Fire’ just leaked and Khalifah was allegedly set to use it as a bargaining chip to cross to the National Resistance movement in case he does not get the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket for Rubaga South.

Khalifah was yesterday signed under a new record label called management Vimba Entertainment who explained that they want to make a statement in Uganda’s music industry.

The label is managed by a team of four; Bakri Matovu, Kyembe Karim, Matano Andrew and Eddy Circular.

Bakri Matovu who is also a former singer revealed that Vimba Entertainment is here to showcase Ugandan talent to the rest of the world.

“This is Ugandan label. We are here to sell Ugandan talent to the world. We shall be handling, managing and distributing music and arts content,” he said.

Ragga/Dancehall star Kalifah Aganaga, who is the label’s first signing has been busy in studio recording new music which awaits release. He is set to be unveiled in a Press briefing tomorrow.

“Kalifah Aganaga is very talented. As Vimba management, we have been in contact with him for some time now. That is why we decided to start with him, as someone we are very confident about. We shall unveil more artists soon,” Bakri said.
