KAMPALA — Kakwenza Rukirabashaija, a Ugandan activist, has been arrested by military intelligence after publishing another critical book, “Banana Republic”.
He had recently been charged with what the Court described as trumped-up charges of defamation and cyber related crimes after he was detained in the military barracks.
He is popularly known as the author of “The Greedy Barbarian”, a book that criticizes the ruling first family of Uganda and is also a political activist linked to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party.
He recently slammed security forces including CMI of torturing him and stealing his copies of The Greedy Barbarian, computer, flash drive and phone.
“The bogus charges which were preferred against me by CMI hoodlums after torturing me for a week have been dismissed by grade one magistrate his worship Yunus Ndiwalana,” Kakwezi wrote on social Media.
He added: The CMI rascals Mr Museveni sent to my house stole copies of The Greedy Barbarian, computer, flash drive and phone. Up to now they’ve refused to bring them back withal my lawyer’s efforts. Cc Eron Kiiza”.
It is not immediately clear why he has been arrested again.
Activists are now demanding for unconditional and immediate release from detention.
