KAMPALA – The journalism fraternity is mourning the death of Daily Monitor correspondent, Moses Okeya, who has died Thursday evening aged 41.

Okeya has been a correspondent based in Busoga sub-region and attached to the Jinja Bureau office.

The deceased’s last story was about the death of Jinja Catholic Priest Father Gerald Picavet who passed away last week and made an office appearance on September 11 to cover the National Resistance Movement (NRM) mayoral primary polls.

Mr Martin Owino, his younger brother, said the deceased passed away at around 9pm at Bupala village, Buwunga sub-county in Bugiri district.

“The deceased has been sick for a while and had undergone multiple tests at Bugiri hospital and Nankoma health centre IV and the results showed malaria,” Mr Owino said.

The deceased is survived with a wife and two children, a boy and girl aged 8 years and five years respectively. He will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Bupala village on Saturday.
