KAMPALA – Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II returns to the country on Tuesday afternoon after some days on holiday in Kenya.

The local publisher, Watchdog Uganda reported on Tuesday that the Buganda King, whose trip to Kenya was a subject of speculation had ended his holiday and was due back home.

“The King who is travelling by road is expected to arrive in the East African country during afternoon hours. Kabaka Mutebi has been on a holiday in Kenya,” The Watchdog reported.

He met Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyata, and former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga during his trip to Kenya.

Rumours were making rounds that the Kabaka had checked in a Nairobi hospital at the weekend. But Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister came out earlier in to dismiss the rumours, allaying any fears that the Kabaka was unwell.

Additionally, President Museveni while commenting on the same issue said the police would arrest those who had originated such an acidic rumour on social media.

“Why do you go to social media to announce death of person?” The President asked, adding that the police would trace such people “who will be dealt with”.

After the coronation anniversary celebrations at the Mengo Palace, Kabaka Mutebi appeared at the Ministry of Internal Affairs to update his diplomatic passport to enable him take this break.

“After that he drove to Kenya. President Uhuru Kenyatta gave him some of his presidential guards who picked him from Malaba,” the Watchdog Uganda reported on Thursday August 20.
