RUKUNGIRI – A good number of patients admitted at Kisiizi Hospital in the western district of Rukungiri are stranded after the wards got submerged in flood waters yet again.

The Tuesday morning rains left the Church of Uganda owned hospital infrastructure and compound all covered in water, with the hospital administration reportedly forced to move patients to the stairs.

The website has leant that an unprecedented amount of water came from Nyakishenyi hills
carrying rubbish, logs and boulders –  blocking all channels hence, repeating a scene of September 2017.  At least three people died in 2017 disastrous floods at the same facility.

The Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA) released an alert recently about the second season rainfall being above normal and heavy. It will continue upto December.
