KAMPALA –  A youthful politician Salongo Omulongo Isa Kato has declared intentions to contest for Kampala Central Member of Parliament seat in the 2021 general polls.

Kato who is interested in running in the 2021 parliamentary elections on the NRM ticket made his way to the ruling party’s head offices in Kyadondo to pick nomination forms on Tuesday, July 28, 2020

If he goes through NRM primaries, this could put him against the incumbent, Mohammad Nsereko, and Cedric Babu Ndilima, the son to retired flight captain and NRM Central Region Chairperson, Francis Babu.

Kato who is an expert in the tourism sector says the people of Kampala are thirsty for good leadership and that he found it necessary to go in and relieve them of that.

He says he is up against bad politics in the city, fronting the economic empowerment of all Kampalans, consultative leadership and participatory approach.

Giving an example of Kampala, he says the demographics and statistics available should provide a basis for efforts to tackle challenges of unemployment and poverty, against the vast amount of revenue collected every year.

Above 60 percent of the national budget is funded by revenues collected from Kampala, but human capital development remains low yet it could deliver huge returns if supported and developed.

He says the discord in policies has resulted in slow development and implementation of government programs in Kampala.
