MAYUGE – The army is investigating circumstances under which its soldier was killed and body dumped in Magamaga Town Council, Mayuge District.

The bloodied body of Sgt Samson Omoding, attached to Magamaga Barracks, was on Monday morning found dumped along railway tracks in Magamaga.

“His body was found along the railway tracks and it is suspected that he could have been murdered and his body dumped there,” the UPDF Spokesman for Busoga Sub-region, Capt George Musinguzi, said.

“Investigations have started and I’ll get back with details,” he added.

This is the second time in about seven months that a soldier is killed in the same area in unclear circumstances.

The body of a UPDF soldier attached to the engineering brigade in Magamaga, was found near a railway line in Magamaga town council in November 2019.

According to Police, the soldier number RA 218630 R/CPL Joel Cherukut 35, attached to Magamaga Cantonment barrack (engineering dept) was found dead with his right arm cut off.

In a statement from the territorial Police of Busoga, the deceased was seen in the company of his colleagues at Forest Bar and later on at Mama Kawala’s Bar in Magamaga town council on 30/11/19.
