JINJA – Two people on Tuesday, 16 June 2020 perished following a head-on collision between an Isuzu truck and a numberless car in Mabira Forest along the Jinja-Kampala highway.

According to Ssezibwa regional Police Spokesperson, Ms Hellen Butoto, the accident involved an Isuzu truck registration number KCX177B heading to Kenya and a numberless car destined for a bond in Kampala.

“The driver of the car identified as Sharif Musenero, 26, and 18-year-old Ms Samali Nakande, who was in the passenger seat, died on the spot,” Ms Butoto said.

She added that the driver of the truck, Johnston Kingori, a 35-year-old Kenyan, sustained serious injuries.

“I appeal to the public to avoid using private cars as public service vehicles during this lockdown period because the Ministry of Transport designed proper modes of transport that need to be followed,” said Ms Butoto.

She added that police are investigating the cause of the accident and have notified the company importing the car of the driver’s death.
