Panic at KCCA as suspected COVID-19 cases are reported

KAMPALA – There has been panic the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) headquarters as suspected COVID-19 cases have been reported.

In a statement dated June 5, the Authority’s Spokesperson Peter Kawuju noted that the Emergency Response Team responded immediately and evacuated the suspected individuals for further Management.

“KCCA is at the heart of providing services on behalf of Central Government and continues to observe the Standard Operating Procedures issued by The Ministry of Health,” he said.

He added that, “We shall keep you posted on any key developments.”

35 new Covid-19 cases were reported on June 5 raising the country’s tally of infections to 557.

“The ministry of health confirms thirty five new COVID-19 cases from 2267 samples tested on 4th June, 2020. All cases are Ugandan,” reads a statement released on Friday morning.

The infections include 20 individuals who are contacts to previously confirmed cases.

These include seven cases from Kampala, 5 from Amuru, 3 from Mayuge, 2 from Kyotera, 1 from Wakiso, 1 from Dokolo and 1 from Amudat Districts.
