KAMPALA – President Museveni’s in-law Odrek Rwabwogo is counting losses after a fire gutted the studios of his radio station in Lyantonde District and burnt all equipment to ashes.

Fire at Kaaro FM, which is popular in the area, is said to have started in the wee hours of Monday morning.

The radio station is based on the second floor of a building and Mr Michael Muyonga, the managing director of Tomosi Group, which manages the station , said they are still waiting for a police report to know what led to the inferno .

“The police report will help us know what went wrong,” he said, refusing to divulge more details

The fire, according to an eye witness, started from the radio production room and spread to other parts of the entire premises, completely destroying the studio and production department.

Lyantonde District Police Commander Didas Byaruhanga confirmed the incident but refused to give details, saying investigations are underway.

However, residents intimated to this website that the action could have been act of arson. This they argued could be because of the company sacking several radio staff recently. PML Daily could not verify the claims. This website understands that three weeks ago, radio management sacked about nine staff including the station manager.
