LUUKA – Shock gripped Kakubi Village in Waibuga Sub-County, Luuka District at the weekend after a 42-year-old man was punched to death for flirting with another man’s wife.

The deceased has been identified as David Swaga, a resident of Kakubi Village in Waibuga Sub-County.

The Area LC1 Chairperson Noel Maka on Sunday said the deceased was attacked from his home by the other woman’s husband who came from Busei Village in Iganga District.

He said the deceased was punched in the chest and fell down as the suspect who came on a motorcycle ran away.

He said the deceased was taken to the nearby clinic but succumbed to death.

He said the matter was reported to police who are hunting for the suspect in connection with the death of Swaga.

Meanwhile, two people had their home burnt down by angry residents of Bukwaku Village in Namungalwe Sub-County Bugiri for allegedly poisoning a resident.

The Bugiri Police Criminal Intelligence Investigation Department Officer Bernard Mulaabi on Monday said the suspect was also injured by the angry residents.

He said the residents attacked the suspect after the death of Patrick Opita, a resident of the same Village.

He said Opita is said to have died of pressure according to a medical report, but angry residents suspect the duo to have poisoned him.

Mulaabi condemned the residents for taking the laws into their hands by destroying the suspect’s property.

He said Police are hunting for those involved in the unlawful destroying and injuring of the suspect’s belongings.
