NEPAK – Police in Napak district on Friday, May 1 destroyed over 9,000 liters of crude warragi in Napak district, Karamoja sub region worth shs40m.

The destruction of the warragi follows the directive from the districts of Karamoja after noticing that the deadly ‘enguli’ which is being manufactured in Jinja was killing many people.

Mr. Michael Ongicha, the District Police Commander who supervised the destruction of the warragi told PML Daily that last week two people died of the same warragi.

He added that police will continue impounding warragi and arrest the dealers and prosecute them.

“When you look at our records death and domestic violence cases most of them are caused by high consumption of alcohol.

Mr. Joseph Lomonyang, Nepak district chairperson advised the people dealing in warragi, to desist from the business saying they should find other business that are not dangerous to human health.

“Business like dealing in food Merchandize is the best because people of Karamoja need food not alcohol,” he said.
