KAMPALA – Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs working through the Ugandan Mission in Abuja to offer singer Edirisa Musuza also known as Eddy Kenzo consular services.

Speaking during Wednesday’s plenary sitting, the speaker asked foreign affairs ministry to assist Kenzo to come home and also meet his bills.

Kadaga said Kenzo called him and told her he is stuck in Cote d’Ivoire where he had gone to perform.

“He is in dire straits and has spent whatever he had. He’s unable to come home because flights are not available,” she said.

Kadaga said she will also be informing President Museveni about the matter so that he can be assisted.

“For him it’s even worse because he is in a french speaking country. Life is not easy as it would be if he was in an English speaking country where he could talk with people and get assisted,” kadaga said.

Cabinet approved the return of over 2,500 Ugandans stuck abroad over the coronavirus pandemic.

In a meeting chaired by President Museveni on Monday, it was agreed that the stranded Ugandans will cater for their own flight costs, undergo testing upon arrival and undergo the mandatory 14 days quarantine at their own cost.

Several Ugandans stranded in countries such as South Africa, United Arab Emirates, UK, US, Turkey and China have been taking to social media, appealing to the Kampala government to allow them back home, saying that they were suffering from the effects of lockdowns imposed over coronavirus in the host countries.
