KIGALI — Rwanda has on Wednesday April 08 confirmed five new cases of the novel coronavirus — bringing the total number of COVID19 infections in the country to 110.

Health authorities in a statement indicated that the new infections include four cases of previously confirmed cases, who were identified through tracing and one frequent traveler.

Rwanda says all new the cases have been Isolated and that tracing of contacts is ongoing.

Heath authorities indicated that all patients are under stable conditions

Health officials say seven patients have already recovered.

Top Rwandan officials will not get their April salaries in one of the drastic measures the government has enforced to raise funds for social protection programmes aimed for the most vulnerable in the community.

Rwanda has implemented a strict lockdown in a bid to curb the spread of Coronavirus, which has forced many low-income earners and unemployed people to struggle to get food and other basic necessities.
