DETAILS! Killed Kasangati robber belonged to B13 criminal gang, says Police

KASANGATI – The police have named members of the notorious B13 criminal gang that has been terrorising residents around Kasangati areas.

The gang, that is under the command of a one Brian Bisaso, South Pole Junior, South Pole Ali, Coach Baali was engaged by the police on Wednesday April 29 in which a key member Muwonge Jamil alias South Pole was shot to death, spokesman Patrick Onyango said on Thursday.

Mr. Onyango said the gang leader Bisaso was arrested alongside eight others after establishing the location and their bases following a spat of robberies that had taken place in the area.

“The nine suspects are Brian Bisaso aka Obisa, Andrew Kabagambe aka Alali, Jackson Muyomba, John Bosco Kakooza, Fred Yiga, Ishaqa Bikoona, Samuel Kabalama aka Palaso, Ronald Ssendega aka Mark-Do and South Ali (not real names” he said.

Mr Onyango further revealed that the gang is composed of 15 robbers with bases in Bulamu, Namavundu,Kayebe and Kyankima villages all in Kasangati town council.

“The hunt for the remaining criminals are still ongoing,” he said.

He said the suspects are currently being detained at Kasangati police station pending court appearance.

“They are being charged with aggravated robbery,” Mr. Onyango sad.

“We want to thank the public for providing vital information that led to the dismantling of this notorious group.”

According to the police,  the group had in the last few days carried out heinous crimes in the Kasangati area.

The killed robber identified as Jamil Muwonge aka South Pole was part of a criminal gang that had been terrorozing people in and around Kasaganti areas.

Muwonge was first shot in the leg as one way to disable him but he tried to attack one of the Police Officers and he was shot dead by another Officer in order to safe his colleague.

The operation followed a spat of robberies that had taken place in the area.

According to the police, on the 19/04/2020 at around 0100 hours Mr. Kusiima Jamir, a resident of Seeta Zone, Wampewo , Kasangati Town Council was attacked and robbed.

On the 19/04/2020 at around 0300 Hours, Hajji Jafari, a resident of Namavundu, Zone, Bulamu Parish, Kasangati Town Council was also robbed.

“Investigations were commenced and robbers were identified as members of B13 criminal gang under the command of BISASO BRIAN, South Pole Junior, South Pole Ali, Coach Baali and is composed of 15 robbers with bases in Bulamu, Namavundu Kayebe and Kyankima villages all in Kasaganti Town Council,” the police says.

After establishing the location and their bases, Police in Kasangati sought for support from Crime Intelligence headquarters to have the group flashed out.

The Wednesday joint operation involved a team of operatives from Crime intelligence headquarters, Kampala Metropolitan Police, Kampala North together with Kasangati Police.

The police thanked its officers for the operation.
