BUSHENYI – West Ankole Diocese has on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 offered five thousand (5000) kilograms of food donation to five districts of greater Bushenyi, which include Bushenyi, Mitooma, Rubirizi, Sheema and Buhweju.
Zadock Amanyisa, the Diocesan Communication Officer said that this gesture of benevolence and generosity was aimed at supporting and supplementing the efforts of the President in the fight against COVID-19.
“The donation targets vulnerable communities affected by the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The food was handed over to the leaders of the five districts that West Ankole Diocese covers,” he said.
Before the handover, the Bishop of West Ankole Diocese, Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni had a brief meeting with the leaders in his office where he asked the leaders to embrace love and unity as they lead God’s people in their respective districts.
Bishop Twinomujuni read from Gal. 3:25-28 emphasising that we are all God’s children despite our religious, political and social affiliations. He prayed for the people who are facing the ugly face of the pandemic in other countries, and for God’s protection over Uganda.
The Bishop also appreciated President Museveni, the taskforce team, and the Ministry of Health for putting in effort to protect Ugandans against COVID-19.
Amanyisa said that the leaders took note of Bishop Twinomujuni’s fast leap to provide food to all the five districts in West Ankole Diocese, where he serves as bishop.
