COVID-19 CRISIS: Ministry of Health receives assortment of medicine

KAMPALA – In a bid to fight coronavirus in Uganda, the Minister of Health, Hon. Jane Aceng, Director Clinical and Curative Services, Dr Charles Olaro and Commissioner in charge of Pharmacy, Dr Fred Sebisubi have received an assortment of medicine from Kamcare Pharma Ltd. to support the COVID-19 response.

According to Health Ministry, the medicines will be immediately dispatched to the treatment facilities.

The medicine includes:

– 25 packets of hydroxcychloroquine

– 50 packets of Sugaquin

– 50 injection of Deselin

– 100 packets of Vitamin C

“COVID-19 has no treatment/vaccine, yet. However, research and clinical trials are underway to ensure that treatment/vaccines are made available as soon as possible,” said the ministry, adding that, “The treatment for COVID-19 is based on the symptoms of the disease.”

On Thursday evening, the health ministry announced that all the 338 COVID-19 tested samples returned negative, keeping the registered cases at 53.
