KAMPALA – Following Presidential directives on mass gatherings to curb coronavirus spread, the Chairperson Electoral Commission (EC) Justice Simon Byabakama has revealed that the elections of the special interest groups from village to national level have been postponed.
The elections were scheduled to commence with nomination of candidates in April 2020.
“The postponment has been made as a result of the ongoing shutdown of mass gatherings in the country, as a measure to prevent the spread of the deadly Corona virus,” reads a letter dated March 22.
He said that the EC will at an appropriate time inform the public of any new developments.
“The commission regrets the inconvenience caused to the concerned parties,” Byabakama noted
