KAMPALA — The Ministry of Health is now withholding travel documents including passports of travellers from category one countries until completion of the 14 days of mandatory quarantine.
The category one countries are Italy, France, South Korea, China, USA, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Norway Austria, Malaysia, Pakistan, and San Marino.
This follows reports that travellers were escaping from the mandatory institutional quarantine.
State minister for health Joyce Kaducu said in a social media post said this will eliminate chances of escape from designated areas.
“I want to assure you that ministry of Uganda is doing all it takes to keep Uganda safe,” Ms. Kaducu said.

The President also noted that no outbound travel by Ugandans to or through category one countries (those severely affected by pandemic) for 32 days.
