Police rescues two children stolen by housemaids

KAMPALA – On the 19th of March 2020, Mariam Mubiru, 46, a resident of Ndeeba Central Zone, Rubaga Division in Kampala District reported a case of child stealing of her son Kabitte Mubiru, one year and 6 months, that was stolen from home by Shamilah Nasaka, her maid.

Investigations started right away and the suspect was traced and arrested at Kiriri village in Kiriri Sub County, Gomba District yesterday the 22nd of March.

She was arrested with her boyfriend one Emmanuel Seruwu. The child who was in good health conditions was re-united with her parents.

In a related incident, Nabasiza Police Post also registered a case of child stealing on the 18th /03/2020. According to Lukia Nakalili, 28, a resident of Nabaziza village, its alleged that her daughter Hahiya Nabuuma of 10 months was stolen by her maid Resty Nabasuumba.

Investigations started right way and the suspect Nabasuumba was quickly traced and arrested with a child alive from Kigagazi village in Bukomansimbi District. The suspect has admitted to stealing the child to go and stay with her.

The two female suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

They will be arraigned in courts as soon as the courts start working on charges of child stealing.
