KAMPALA – The Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Bobi Wine real name Robert Kyagulanyi has distributed handwashing kits to constituency leaders in a bid to fight deadly COVID-19 and encouraged each one of them to offer leadership in their respective parishes.
This was shortly after Uganda confirmed her first case of Coronavirus.
Bobi Wine had on Sunday met with his Constituency leaders to discuss ways of sensitizing people more about the preventive measures to take in the wake of the Corona Virus pandemic.
“We pitched together ideas in line with the guidelines from the health ministry and medical experts’ advice,” he said.
He also tasked these leaders to encourage regular hand washing, practicing social distancing, and reporting all suspected cases to the authorities. “We continue doing our best while we pray that God does the rest.”
On Saturday night, Dr Aceng said a 36-year-old Ugandan male who arrived from Dubai, on Saturday, March 21, 2020, aboard Ethiopian Airlines at 2:00 am tested positive.
During the screening process at the airport, Dr Aceng said the patient’s temperature was 38.7— prompting the health teams to isolate him at the airport for further follow-up.
Subsequent temperatures taken at intervals of 30 minutes and one hour remained the same.
He was evacuated to Entebbe Grade B Hospital for further follow up where a nasal swab was taken for analysis.
“The confirmed case presented with high fever and poor appetite. He is not coughing neither did he have flu. However, the persistent fever prompted the health workers to isolate him.”
On Sunday at 4:oo pm, president Museveni is expected to address the nation on the disease for the third time.
