KAMPALA – Anti-counterfeit Network Africa (ACN) has launched a campaign code-named ‘fight Covid -19 with genuine products’.

Mr. Fred Muwema the Director Legal and Corporate Affairs reporters that some members of the public were trying to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic to produce and sale counterfeit products.

The campaign which bears his photo and that of Quinn Abenakyo who is Miss Uganda 2018/19 /Miss World Africa 2018/19 is rallying the public to desist from using counterfeit products in fighting coronavirus.

Muwema and Abenakyo in a video message and with a placard said that the fight against coronavirus will be successful when the public uses genuine products.

The duo also advised the public to observe the orders and guidelines given by governments and authorities in the health and to personally take caution and responsibility and prevent themselves from contracting and spreading the killer disease which has brought the World on its knees.

In Uganda, nine cases have so far been confirmed to be infected with COVID-19.  However, the government has asked the public to wash hands and not to touch their faces especially the nose, mouth, and eyes. Experts have said if those areas are touched with infected hands a person picks the killer disease.

Muwema said for one to participate in the campaign, 1 take a piece of paper/placard, two hands write the message on the paper or placard, 3 take photographs of yourself with the placard and share your message and the placard with your friends.

Muwema and Abenakyo believe that with the use of genuine products the fight against coronavirus will succeed.

ACN is a civil society organization that aims at bridging the gaps between multiple sectors that affect and are affected by counterfeits and parallel importation. It’s established in Uganda and Kenya and other countries on the continent.
