KAMPALA – Centenary Bank is in mourning following the sudden death of one of the board members, Prof Joseph Ssewanyana Kasumba.
Prof Ssewanyana, who has been a non-executive Director on the Board of Centenary Bank since 31st August 2018 and served as the Chairman of the IT Strategy Board committee, died on Wednesday, March 25. The cause of death is yet to be revealed.
“With his wealth of knowledge and experience, Professor Ssewanyana contributed greatly to Centenary Bank’s digital journey and he will be dearly missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Sarah Ssewanyana and family and friends and mourn with them,” Centenary Bank said in a statement.
His death comes about a month after the bank lost its board chairman, Dr Kagugube.
Prof Ssewanyana has also been the Chairman, Board of Governors for Uganda Technology and Management University and Member, CEO Summit Think Tank Secretariat. He previously served as Council Chairperson Uganda Technology and Management University and worked extensively in the Uganda Government parastatal organisations and in the private sector outside Uganda.
He is a Business Information Technology specialist and has worked extensively in the academia and industry. He also sits on the Board of Governors of St. Charles Lwanga S.S.S.
He holds MBA from Hull University, UK and PhD in Business Administration (ICT) from Washington International University, USA. His research interests are in business modelling and ICT for development.
