UPDF kicks off Tarehe Sita celebrations in Rwampara

RWAMPARA – The UPDF 2 Infantry Division has on Sunday, February 2 started Tarehe Sita celebrations in Mwizi sub county Rwampara District.

While officiating at the launch of the Tarehe Sita civil-military activities in Mwizi sub county, the 2 Infantry Division Commander Hon. Brig Francis Takirwa observed that it’s the mandate of the UPDF as a pro- people’s army to always give back to the communities and the civil population.

Brig Takirwa observed that, UPDF has managed to come this far due to the great respect for the civil population and added that it’s the reason why UPDF usually gives back whenever chance araise.

The Division Commander went ahead and cautioned the civilian population against false politicians who come to mislead the population when in actual sense such politicians do not care for the people.

Brig Takirwa again called on the people in Mwizi not to only engage in subsistence farming but also engage in commercial farming to increase their household income.

Speaking at the same function, the Mwizi sub county LC3 Chairperson Mr Sunday Fredrick thanked UPDF for coming to celebrate Tarehe Sita activities in Mwizi sub county.

The Chairperson went ahead and pledged full support for the activities and observed that the wananchi were happy with the UPDF gesture of giving back to the communities.

Tarehe Sita activities which began today will be going on in this area up to 6th of February. They will include among others: a medical camp, rehabilitation of Mwizi health centre buildings, cleaning Mwizi town and a football match between the UPDF and Mwizi locals.
