KAMPALA – President Museveni has given two brand new vehicles to two bishops in fulfillment of his pledge made in January last year.
The President gave two brand new Mitsubishi Pajeros to the Uganda Orthodox Church Bishop of Gulu and Eastern Sylvester Kisitu and his Anglican counterpart, Rt. Rev. Paul Kiptoo Masaba, the Bishop of Kapchorwa Diocese.
Ms. Jean Kabainkya, the Assistant Secretary in the Transport Office, handed over the vehicles to the clergy in a ceremony held at State House Entebbe at the weekend.
The President said the vehicles will support the clergy as they move among the faithful to preach the word. He urged them to always call upon the people to fight poverty among their homes.
Kisitu was elected by the great synods of all bishops from Africa and Europe on December 26, 2018, and was ordained on January 16 in Alexandria Egypt. In January 2019, Bishop Kisitu along with His Eminence Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga and other representatives of the Orthodox Church paid a visit to the President at State House Entebbe.
Bishop Masaba was enthroned as the 2nd Bishop of Sebei Diocese at a colourful service in Kapchorwa on 12th April 2015.
