FDC elects new leaders in Kalangala

KALANGALA – The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party Kalangala District branch on Friday, February 21 held a conference where they elected new leaders.

The District conference brought together Party grassroots leaders from the 7 sub-counties that make up Kalangala District, 2 Constituencies of Bujumba and Kyamuswa, District leaders, elected party leaders at local Government levels among others. It was held at Kalangala District Redcross Hall in Kalangala Town Council- Bujumba County Constituency.

The election which was conducted by the FDC Kalangala District Branch Electoral Commission Returning Officer Mr. Valentino Okoth saw Mr. Munaaba Robert being re-elected as the Party Branch District Chairman.

Mr. Munaaba doubles as the Bufumira Sub County Local Council 3 Chairman.

On the side of the District Conference, the District Youth League conference was convened and elected the 9-member Youth League executive led by Mr. Ssonko Dennis as the new District Youth League branch Chairman.

Similarly, Ms. Ahimbisibwe Phiona was elected the new District Women’s League Chairperson.

The two constituencies of Bujumba and Kyamuswa elected their branch leaders preceding the District Conference.

The FDC National Youth League Chairman Mr. Mulindwa Walid Lubega and the Secretariat Regional officer for Buganda Ms. Nabayozi Gertrude oversaw the swearing-in of the new leaders after the election.

In his address, the National Youth leader thanked the Party leaders for the remaining firm and focused to the struggle, congratulated the new leaders and implored them to hold periodic and rotational meetings to ease mobilisation as well as making FDC as an attractive brand to the people of Kalangala.

He also implored the Youth to participate actively in the forthcoming National Youth Council elections and he shared the electoral road map.

The FDC Kalangala District leaders after the conference participated in the blood donation campaign which was organized by the Red Cross Society of Uganda, Kalangala District.
