KAMPALA – NBS Television’s acting head of News Dalton Kaweesa has fired back to Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament, Betty Nambooze trolling her for telling lies.

Mr. Kaweesa has also denied any wrongdoing after the MP accused him of using his position to turn around stories and the alleged drawing of opposition into controversies.

Nambooze in a social media post had alleged that she understands the NBS Television newsroom had a meeting where they agreed to use newsrooms to spin around stories by the opposition to incite members from the different forces of change to conflict with each other.

“On Thursday, I had a live show and calmly and respectfully gave my predictions on opposition politics in the New Year. You cut out parts of the show and used a girl named Josephine Namakumbi to voice it and bias the listener.”

“You plotted (you Kaweesa) and got a comment from the PP [People Power] spokesperson after misleading him that I had attacked PP. With this, you came up with a forged story that People’s Government and People Power are at War!”

“You have gone ahead to use the NBS logo to publicise fake stories of me attacking Hon Bobi [Wine], things I have said anywhere. Of course, you were able to fool many of our supporters and you are now enjoying the conflict as our people move down to tier each other.”

“After that a story that has created a war between People Power and People’s Government you are now at it again! Good enough I received a warning from one insider that there is a project which you Kaweesa is part of to draw Nambooze into controversies as a strategy to keep the opposition conflicting.”

Mr. Kaweesa has dismissed as malicious propaganda allegations by Nambooze that the station cut out parts of her interview to set her on a collision course with Bobi Wine’s People Power and other forces in the opposition.

To this claim, he has attached video links of Nambooze’s interview. In the interview, the Mukono Municipality MP was recorded as comparing People Power to Amama Mbabazi’s Go Forward.

She also adds that the pressure group will be no more after 2021 elections. The comments have since angered People Power.

“On People Power interview, Mr. Kaweesa has noted that, “you said what you said, and people power responded to you. Who put you on gunpoint to speak? It started with the Morning Show and you went ahead to re-affirm your position. The link is here. And the clip.

“So the unfair journalism to the Omniscient Nambooze, when we seek a response from the people (People Power) you talk about? You said People Power will not go beyond 2021. This is what PP responded to, among other things. Oh dear, that is unfair to you, bambi.”

Nambooze, who is the spokesperson of Dr. Kizza Besigye’s self-styled people’s government, had also claimed that while still at Red Paper, Mr. Kaweesa photoshoped photos of her husband hugging women and he wrote a story slandering him.

Kaweesa has also rubbished claim-labeling in emotional blackmail laced infertile imagination.

“As expected with your emotional blackmail laced infertile imagination, you claim I authored a story when you were arrested by Gen Sejusa. This is easily believable for the non-critical viewers,” Mr. Kaweesa says.

He adds; “Nambooze, you were arrested in 2008, I was not even a journalist at the time. But lies cannot hold for long, you see now that you had a bias, a premeditated position on an innocent person.  I have found out from upright thinking members of society including your ‘personal friend’ Lord Mayor that it was Geoffrey Kaweesa. You and Geoffrey were fighting in your DP politics, but you decided to shamelessly become economical with the truth. Am I surprised, not really?”

The Mukono Municipality MP in her statement attacked Kaweesa’s family something that didn’t go well with him.

“When I saw your wedding someone’s daughter, I thought you had grown up…. Unfortunately, you are becoming worse! My Kaweesa, I want to remind you that we resolved that in this 2020 Double Action year you push me, I will push you back. You are pushing me. Don’t complain when we decide to push back,” Nambooze wrote.

Kaweesa has taken a swipe at Nambooze for dragging his family into businesses that do not concern them.

“You have made an attack on my family. Unlike you, I will not go to the sewers, it is my profound belief that your family is very innocent. And I will respect your family by not responding,” he wrote.
