
KAMPALA — The recently completed 4th edition of the Busoga Youth Retreat locally known as Ekigangu kya Busoga has received a UGX10m donation from telecom giants MTN Uganda.
Handing over the dummy cheque to the Managing Director of Ekigangu kya Busoga also Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga at her office on Monday, the General Manager Corporate Affairs at MTN Uganda, Enid Edroma revealed that supporting pro-people causes is part of their plan.
“We appreciate Busoga Kingdom and specifically the Speaker for addressing the plight of everyone more so the children. As MTN Uganda with a deliberate effort to improve the plight of the people,we are duty-bound to belatedly support you and going forward, we shall even do more,” she said.
She also committed to supporting the 12 Buyende girls who sat for UACE last year provided they get the necessary requirements.
On her part, the Speaker Kadaga commended MTN Uganda for the job well done.
The Team Leader Ekigangu kya Busoga also State Minister for Gender, Women and Children Affairs, Owek. Dr. Joyce Abaliwano Mulebeke noted that having long term partnerships with corporate companies to support the activity is one of their priorities.
Witnessing the handover ceremony were Ekigangu directors who included Mukono Resident Judge Justice David Ndikabona Batema, Owek. Robert Kafuko Ntuuyo (Busoga Kingdom Attorney General) with Bryan Mbasa, Conrad Olowo, and Steven Mutana accompanying Edroma.
