Presidents Yoweri Museveni (R) and Uhuru Kenyatta met recently on  Karamojong, Turkana issues (PPU PHOTO).

KOTIDO – Leaders of Turkana County Assembly of Kenya and Karamoja have called for emergency meeting to discuss ways of stopping the growing clashes between the Kenyan Turkana and Karamojong pastoralists   The meeting which is scheduled to take place on Monday 18 this month is called by Karamoja Minister Mr. John Byabagmabi and it will be attended by UPDF Chief of Defence Forces, Turkana County governor, political leaders from Kenyan and Karamoja and local security officials.

PML Daily learned that the current high intention between the Karamojong and armed Turkana pastoralists who are grazing their livestock in Karamoja was shocked by the leaders of two neighboring countries.

On October 25, the Turkana pastoralists who are grazing in Karamoja launched a series of attacks on the Karimojong in Kotido forcing them to flee their Kraals for their dear lives and settle near the army barracks in Nakapelimoru.

Maj. Telesphor Turymumanya the 3rd division spokesperson confirmed the meeting saying the leaders from the two countries are expected to iron out the conflict surrounding the two pastoralist’s communities.

“The meeting will take place on Monday and the main agenda is to discuss ways on how to make the two communities live together,” he said.
