
KAMPALA —The South Sudan rebel movement, SPLA-in opposition has appointed a full time social media director to advance the agenda of the group on the elite and youth dominated platforms.
The SPLA-IO publicity boss, Mabior Garang de Mabior announced early this week that a known armed opposition activist, James Kalany Mamuon Biem has been given the Job.
“I, Mabior Garang de Mabior- National Chairman for Information and Public Relations of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) – hereby appoint Cde.
James Kalany Mamuon, as the National Director/ Secretary for Social Media,” said Mabior.
Mr. Kalany 30 originates from South Sudan’s Liech State and has been a member of Dr. Riek Machar movement since the beginning of SPLM/SPLA crisis in April 2013 before it blew into a civil war in December the same year when President Salva Kiir attempted to sack Machar.

Kalany told PML Daily that his appointment is going to structure and consolidate flow of information on social media to mainly keep on updating their supporters in South Sudan and beyond and also encounter what he called propaganda from government.
“As far as this appointment is concerned, it will involve the reorganization of socials media, the like of unifying Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, online radio, official pages for regular update to our supporters in order to encounter remorse and propaganda leveled against the movement,” said Kalany.
The SPLA-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar is expected to return to Juba soon as the First Vice President and the development is likely to boost his communication team.
