RUKIIGA – A 35-year old woman is suspected to have committed suicide by hanging in Bukinda Sub County, Rukiga district.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesman identified the deceased as Maritinah Turyakira, a resident of Karushaya cell in Kyogo parish Kamwezi Sub County in Rukiga District.

The Turyakira body was on Wednesday, October 30 found hanging on a eucalyptus tree in Waceeba village, Kyerero parish in Bukinda sub-county Rukiga district.

The deceased is suspected to have hanged herself on Tuesday night using a piece of cloth.

John Nuwagaba a neighbour to the deceased says they were shocked by the news as Turyakira has been a good resident who had not been at loggerheads with anyone.

“We have been living harmoniously and had not known about any problem that could have led her to such an act,” Nuwagaba said.

Maate says that the matter has been registered at Rukiga Police station reference number SD reference 10/30/10/2019 as investigations continue.

The police called upon the public to always use relevant offices and share problems with family and friends instead of ending their dear lives.
