KAMPALA – The Public Accounts Committee has asked Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital to secure all its land through land titling to stop the increasing land grabbing of there.

This, as the committee, received the Auditor General’s report complaining of the continued encroachment on the hospital land.

The Auditor-General established that about four acres of the hospital land was encroached by squatters, advising the hospital management to expedite the process of obtaining a court injunction and fencing off the land.

The committee Vice Chairperson, Chua West Member of Parliament Okin Ojara said the hospital management should secure the land and avail the committee with all copies of the evidence that the land was secured.

He said that his committee will soon visit the hospital to assess the situation.

The Butabika Hospital Executive Director, Dr. David Basangwa promised to take up the committee’s directive and use the solicitor’s office to evict the encroachers through court.
