Mitooma District officials arrested over employment scam

MITOOMA – The Inspectorate of Government (IG) has on Monday October 7, arrested four Mitooma District Local Government officials over employment corruption.

According to a statement dated October 7 2019, the Inspectorate of Government received a complaint in which it was alleged that Mitooma District Service Commission (DSC) advertised several jobs in February 2018, which were marred with irregularities.

These arrested officials include; Senior Human Resource Officer Amon Byamugisha, Community Development Officer Saverinus Beyendeza, Human Resource Officer Onesmus Agaba , and Community Development Officer Sarah Kiconco .

They will be charged with Corruption, contrary to sections 2(a) and 26 of the AntiCorruption Act, 2009 and Corruption, contrary to sections 2(b) and 26 of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2009.

“Amon Byamugisha, a Senor Human Resource Officer of Mitooma District Local Government, corruptly solicited gratification of UGX 2,500,000/= (Two Million Five Hundred Shillings) from Keleth Atamba as an inducement to secure Keleth Atamba a job as a Procurement Officer of Mitooma District Local Government,” reads an excerpt.

In addition Mr  Byamugisha the IG alleges that during the month of April 2018, corruptly received gratification of UGX 1,500,000/  on his Mobile Phone Number 0787562141 from  Keleth Atamba as an inducement to secure Atamba a job as a Procurement Officer of Mitooma District Local Government.

The IGG contends that Mr Beyendiza, a Community Development Officer of Mitooma District Local Government during the month of April 2018, corruptly received gratification of UGX 2,000,000/=   on his inducement to secure Sarah Kiconco a job as a Community Development Officer of Mitooma District Local Government.

It is also alleged that Mr Agaaba  during the month of April 2018, corruptly offered gratification of UGX 2,020,000/= to  Mr. Byamugisha, on his Mobile Phone Number 0787562141 as an inducement to secure him a job as a Human Resource Officer of Mitooma District Local Government.

“Sarah Kiconco, a Human Resource Officer of Mitooma District Local Government during the month of April 2018, corruptly offered gratification of UGX 2,000,000/= (Two Million Shillings) to Saverinus Beyeniza, Community Development Officer of Mitooma District Local Government on his Mobile Phone Number 0772988898 as an inducement to secure Sarah Kiconco a job as a Human Resource Officer of Mitooma District Local Government,” reads a statement in part.”

They will appear at the anti-corruption tomorrow October 8 2019 for plea taking.
