KAMPALA – Events promoter Balaam Barugahara has revealed that he engineered a meeting between President Museveni and singer Eddie Kenzo.

After arriving in the country last week from the US where he won the African Entertainer of the year award, Kenzo on Monday this week met the head of state at State House Entebbe, with the President praising the singer’s resilience.

And now, Mr Barugahara has said he had to organize the meeting since Kenzo has been promoting the country internationally through music.

“I was with Bebe Cool and I told him of how we can tell the President to sit down with Eddy Kenzo and hear out his cry,” he said.

Mr Barugahara added that the President is accommodative of all, including those who oppose him. He added that the President has also committed himself to support Kenzo’s musical projects financially.

Kenzo few months ago released a song titled ‘System Volongoto, in which he was attacking the ruling government. When he met the President, Kenzo is reported to have said that the system is not volongoto but rather clear.

The artiste has been making headlines after splitting with his wife Rema Namakula. On independence today, Rema introduced her new lover Hamza Sebunya to her parents in what is referred to as Okukyala in Buganda, marking the end of the artiste’s relationship with Kenzo.
