MOROTO – Heavy rain in Moroto has on Thursday, September 12, delayed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by the two East African Presidents;Y Museveni and his Kenya counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta in Moroto.

The rains that started off as drizzles gradually intensified and rudely interrupted the entire exercise bringing it to a standstill.

The continuous downpour is delaying speeches and causing major inconveniences.

President Museveni and his Kenyan counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta had just arrived at Naitakwae venue in Moroto from Kobebe dam where they had gone to tour as part of the MOU signing.

The two heads of states are in Moroto for the historic signing of the Memorandum of understanding on cross border programme for sustainable peace and development.

However, the signing of the MOU has brought mixed reactions among the section of the Karamoja community with some stakeholders feel that community participation towards the development of the MOU, or the strategy, has been completely absent.

Joseph Lomokol an elder and a resident of Rupa sub-county spoke to this website saying;

“I hope their MOU  signing ceremony at Naitakwae grounds in Moroto, the two leaders will explain the contents of the agreement to the community representatives and how they intend to achieve the set objective,” he said.

More to continue…This is a developing story…
