KAMPALA – Tortured Bobi Wine studio producer succumbs to injuries at Mulago Hospital.

Ziggy Wine, a music producer working with a recording studio owned by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, has succumbed to torture wounds at Mulago National Referral Hospital.

The producer went missing on July 21 and later unknown people dropped him at Mulago Hospital casualty award half-dead. According to the family members, who found him on August 1, he was found badly tortured, with one of his eyes oozing blood.

Ziggy died shortly after we had visited him in the hospital.

When this website visited the hospital on Sunday, we found Ziggy Wine being fed from tubes inserted through his nose. He was unable to talk or recognize any one.

“He has been in this state for over a week. He has not been able to talk; he is just as you see him,” one of the family members, who declined to be identified, said.

“We fear everybody because we do not know who wanted to kill him. We are suspicious of every person who comes to see him,” she added.

When contacted, Mr Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, said the family has not yet lodged a formal complaint to police so that they investigate the matter.

Bobi Wine has condemned the torture Ziggy Wine underwent.

“Ziggy is in such a bad state that he lost nearly all his senses and now survives on God’s mercy. This is one of the very many saddening stories across the country sanctioned by the very people whose duty is to protect us. As we do our best to save a life in a very critical state, kindly keep our brother in your prayers,” he wrote on his Facebook wall on Saturday.

Joseph Mayanja, aka Chameleone, also said: “We must condemn these acts of extremism against innocent people in the strongest terms and demand that police brings the culprits to book, Especially now that street cameras are in place. I call upon the fraternity of artists to stand strong against such. We lose artists every year under similar circumstances. Our leadership as Uganda Musicians Association should take serious interest in Ziggy’s state
