Uganda Police Force to recruit over 500 probational police officers

KAMPALA – The Uganda Police Force has on Tuesday, July 2 released an advert for recruiting all suitable qualified Ugandan citizens who want to join the force as probational police officers and Innovations of Violence (IOV).

Police are inviting Ugandans citizens aged 18 and 25 years to submit in handwritten applications for the vacancies.

According to police, there are 500 vacancies which include 80 for health workers, 250 for ICT, Forensic services 150 and 20 for IOV.

The advert indicates that candidates must have no criminal record, ready to undertake the requisite twelve months police basic training and must be physically fit.

Police add that these must be ready to work for long hours and at times under difficult conditions.

They should also be ready to work in any part of the country, possess good communication skills.

However, one to apply must not be a former or serving officer in any of the forces.

Academically, candidates must possess a diploma from a recognized institution, in fields like clinical medicine, community health, computer science, information technology, and other science- related courses.

“Possession of a valid driving permit will be an added advantage,” adds police advert.

However, the police have warned candidates on the issue of impersonification and presentation of any forged testimonials or any other forged documents, saying that it shall lead to arrest and prosecution in courts of law.

The Uganda Police Force is mandated by law to keep law and order, prevent and detect crime in addition to other constitutional duties.

The recruitment dates and centers are indicated. Requirements and other procedure for application are also clearly spelt out in the advert as attached here.
