WAKISO – It was yesterday afternoon when a rainstorm plucked off the rooftops of the classrooms in the deaf school, in Sentima-Wakiso district.

This is said to be the second deaf school in Uganda. The tragedy happened when students were doing their midterm exams.

“After doing our CRE paper, the rain started bit by bit and this driver some other students to go and remove their washed clothes into the dormitory ” one of the deaf students explained using sign language.

It is then that they witnessed the rooftop being away by the storm. Some of the student’s destroyed books were seen being laid under sunshine to dry up. Teachers tried hard to protect their students and its rather good that none of the students was injured.

“When the storm started we tried to shield the students into one place out of the classroom and thank God none of them was injured” a teacher exclaimed

The teachers and students of this school have requested the government to come to their rescue and give them a better foundation that will support the growth of their education.

Fredrick Kiyingi the head of education affairs in Wakiso district further asked the government together with any able person to support the schools as to sweep away the horrible tragedy.
