Police highlights murder, attack cases in the country

KAMPALA- Police has addressed the media on the general security situation in the country on July 8, 2019 at the police headquarters in Naguru.

The police also shed light on different issues that include; murder, attempted robbery and arson.

Police in Bugiri district on Sunday, July 7, 2019 arrested six people in connection to the murder of a male Juvenile.

Okalo Okisham, aged 2 years, Samia by tribe went missing on July 3, 2019 from his grandmother’s home – Ajambo Scovia – a resident of Matovu village, Nankoma sub-county in Bugiri district.

The mother of the victim made a report at the Police Station in Bugiri on July 6, 2019.

According to police, the hunt was set in motion for the missing child, whose body was later discovered in an abandoned shrine.

Police says it has arrested some suspects to help in the investigation process, these include; Ajambo Scovia, Mugenyi Majidu, Kawanguzi Adam, Mukama Hassan, Mutanda Badru and Igaga Juma.

“The victim’s body has been taken to the hospital for postmortem” Police revealed.

In a related development, police has also arrested Nabireeba Winston 27, a barber and resident of Soweto cell, Namuwongo in Makindye division in connection to the murder of his son identified as Akakwasa Rodman who was only 1 year old.

Police says the incident occurred on July, 1, 2019 at about 16:00 hours.

“The suspect was arrested as he attempted to commit suicide and was rushed to Mulago hospital for immediate intervention.” Police revealed.

Police added that a knife was recovered from the scene and exhibited while the body of the victim was taken to hospital for postmortem.

However, Nakireeba is still under close monitoring.

Uganda Police has commended the efforts made by the Police and residents of Buikwe on the night of June 6, 2019 who intercepted and arrested 3 suspects who were on their way to carry out a suspected arson attack.

Those arrested include; Waiswa Arafat, Tumuheirwe Abdunuru Salim (Mugabi Amon, Tumusiime Nicholas (Katende Andrew).

Police confirmed that another suspect, Emaka Andrew was also later arrested.

According to police, the suspects made an attack on one family in Bugembe village, Lubongo parish, Ngogwe sub-county in Buikwe district over a land conflict.

“These were travelling on a Bajaj red motorcycle, registration number UEW 306G, which we found hidden in a nearby bush,” police said.

It added that the three were also found armed with 2 brand new machetes (pangas) chloroform and 4 litres of petrol.

Police has called on anyone with useful information relating to this case to share it with the Police in Buikwe district.

Meanwhile, Police officers travelling on a 999 patrol car on Sunday, July, 7 disrupted a suspected robbery at Kiri New Site Construction at Wathuba in Bwaise.

The officers also impounded a motor vehicle reg. number UAV 376B Dyna, white in colour that was loaded with cement which was being used in the robbery.

According to police, the occupants of the Dyna car fled the scene while the security guards at the suite could not be found for interrogation.

However, Police is investigating this matter.
