I was misled! Chameleon regrets participating in ‘Tubonga Naawe’ song

KAMPALA – Singer Jose Chameleon real name Joseph Mayanja on Wednesday regretted participating in the Museveni song, the popular Tubonga Nawe song.

Mr. Mayanja is among the 12 artists who pledged their allegiance to the Mr. Museveni in the previous general polls through the Tubonga Nawe song.

Following an uproar by sections of the public, the singer has since accepted that it was a very big mistake for associating with the Mr. Museveni, claiming he was misled by fellow singer Moses Saali stage name Bebe Cool.

In the aftermath of the polls, there were also calls to boycott his shows.

Speaking on Wednesday at Sharing Hall in Nsambya, during his initiation into the Democratic Party-DP, Mr. Mayanja said that his participation in the song was entirely business and not politics.

He apologized to whoever was hurt by his participation in the Museveni song.

Chameleon said DP has always been his party and that of his family.

He was accompanied by his two brothers Palaso, Weasel and mother Proscovia Namirimu.

Ms. Namirimu appealed to the public to support her son seek political office and never to discriminate him on allegations that he could be a mole.

The DP President Norbert Mao welcomed Chameleon to the party and handed him the card and encouraged him to serve Ugandans.

Mr. Mao also appointed Chameleon as the National Chief mobilizer of the party.
