UPDATE: Millions lost as fuel truck catches fire

WAKISO – A fuel truck has on Friday exploded into flames after colliding with another vehicle on the Northern bypass in Naalya.

According to the police, the incident happened at about 11 am at Naalya near Bethany High school along Northern bypass in Namugongo division Kiira Municipality Wakiso district.

Police said the motor vehicle registration UAW 641D Fuso was carrying both petrol and diesel belonging to Don Uganda LTD.

It is said that Mpalanyi David M/A 35 years old who happens to be the driver of Fuso was knocked by an overlapping M/V Reg. No UBD 202B Legacy driven by a yet to be identified driver (On the run).

“The rear tyres of the Fuso came off and the Fuso overturned hence catching fire,” said the police in a statement.

However, police notified that nobody was injured.

The motor vehicle involved (legacy) has been towed away to kiira Police station and the Fuso wreckage is still stuck at the scene. “Efforts of removing it are still underway as it needs to be carefully removed since its still containing fuel,” said the police.
