Uganda Law Society launches ‘pulida wo’ App

KAMPALA– The Uganda Law Society (ULS) has on June 28 launched an App that will be used by the public to access lawyers during the celebrations to mark the 9th Pro Bono Day where the public have been given free legal advice by different advocates.

The ‘pulida wo’ App that can be downloaded from play store was developed by Uganda Law Society to revolutionalise access to Justice as well as enable access a lawyer and It can be used by both clients and Lawyers.

According to ULS, the App contains information/profile of Lawyers who have signed up to it, which information is open to end users & also has legal information to help increase awareness on the law.

The deputy speaker of parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanya who has launched the app officially has congratulated ULS for advancing legal aid services through technology and developing the ‘pulida wo’ app.

“Now what we need is to have physical support offices so that those without mobile phones can also access probono services,” he said.

He further encouraged them to practice professionalism.

Ms. Joyce Nalunga  the CEO of ULS in her speech acknowledged the hard work and commitment ULS Staff put towards the daily running of daily activities at the Secretariat especially today’s

She added that the biggest project of the ULS is the legal aid project.

“Probono to us lawyers is simply the definition of access to justice, probono is the way to go, it is the in thing, and it is justice beyond self. Without probono, we cannot charge the hands of the vulnerable …to us probono, is simply a sign that beyond the legal work we do for money we can also reach out to our clients for free and serve their needs,” Joyce remarked.
