KAMPALA – Joseph Mayanja aka Dr. Jose Chameleon and his brother Pallaso real names Pius Mayanja have on June 27 officially joined the Democratic Party (DP) ahead of 2021 election.

According to DP, Jose Chameleon is coming for Kampala Lord Mayor whereas Pallaso MP Kawempe South in the 2021 elections.

The music legend tweeted appreciating that “I Thank the entire Democratic Party comrades for honouring me this invite to your Headquarters at City House today [Wednesday] evening to discuss the best way we can work together for the beat benefit of our Countrymen and Country at large.”

The two were ushered into their new party amidst loud cheers from a few party members and they seemed ready to take on their new roles at the party.

Chameleon first appeared at a National opposition function at DP Bloc Busoga reunion congregation at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja on May 29 2019, where DP youths welcomed him and was given a hoe which is a symbol for DP.

Recently, the National Vice Chairman NRM Eastern who is also Chairman Pan African Movement and pilot Capt Mike Mukula advised Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone to stay away from politics if he doesn’t want to lose his money and music career.

Mr. Mukula said that basing on his experience, politics will erode Chameleon’s financial base and could ruin his entertainment career.

“My advice to my good friend chameleon is to go slow on politics; it will erode your financial base and could ruin your entertainment career. Don’t say I didn’t advise you, take or leave it experience has taught me,” warned Capt Mukula through twitter.

However, Mr. Mayanja who is looking forward to unseating Erias Lukwago for Kampala Lord Mayorship come 2021 replied that he fears nothing but to continue with what he called ‘paving the way.’

“Thank you my great Friend, “Great men pave way for greater men” now that they didn’t we shall pave our own way and for the greater men after us,” he replied.

It should be remembered that following the political breakthrough of musician Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine who is now the Kyadondo East MP, several other musicians have shown interest in participating in the game.
