KAMPALA – The Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine today, May 23 did not turn up in court for mention of his case as earlier ordered.

Bobi Wine is accused of conniving with 4 other people to disobey statutory duties .

However, Bobi Wine’s lawyer Asuman Basalirwa has informed trial magistrate Esther Nahilya that his client is out of the country attending to official duties.

But his co-accused;  Fred Nyanzi, Julius Katongole, David Lule and Edward Sebuufu ( Eddie Mutwe) have been present in court.

Prosecution led by  Ms Barbra Kyomugisha maintained that inquiries are complete and ready to present her witnesses.

The 5 suspects who are all out on bail are said to have held a public meeting without authorization from the police which action offended sections of the Public Order Management Act.

The said meeting allegedly held on the 11th/July 2018 at City Square in Kampala was aimed at demonstrating against a newly introduced tax of OTT.

According to the prosecution, Bobi Wine and his co-suspects had to get authority from the police in order to ensure that none of the participants of the said meeting was armed.

The magistrate has set July 10, 2019, as the trial date.
