MTN Foundation refurbishes Cwero Health Centre, donates to midwives

MTN Uganda refurbished and donated to Cwero Health Centre III along Gulu – Kitgum road in order to address the health challenges around the community.

GULU – MTN Uganda through the MTN Foundation on Friday, March 15 refurbished and donated to Cwero Health Centre III along Gulu – Kitgum road in order to address the health challenges around the community.

Kiden Nancy –In charge Cwero Health Center III lauded the company for renovating the maternity ward and touching on the local communities.

“Just within 7 days they have worked hard to make sure that this place is renovated, good and safe for our mothers,” she said.

Mr. Sam Okiring, the Ag. General Manager, Enterprise Business Unit, MTN Uganda, confirmed that the company donated 10 hospital beds, mattresses, blankets, and mosquito nets.

He said that sickness inflicts a lot of pain on local people and robs “us of many people”.

“This is why we came out to support Cwero Health Center III, Mr. Okiring said adding that “we are impacting directly on the lives of our mothers who come in here to give birth and bring life into the world.”

Mr.  Henry Oryem Okello, the area Member of Parliament (MP) also Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs) said giving birth is very challenging for mothers as men just take off sometimes.

“Thank you [MTN Uganda] for identifying and working with our district health service to improve this maternity ward. And for giving them the beds. I hope in future you will be able to give them more,” he said.

The issue of the water in the area, the minister said: “we will work with the LC3 to end the problem.”

“The water has to be pumped to this health center. The government is going to put water in the trading center, when it comes, we will make sure it is pumped to the health center, Minister Oryem said.
