KAMPALA – President Yoweri Museveni has said he is still in charge of the country and that nobody will destabilize the peace created under his government.

Speaking in Sheema district on Wednesday, the President also called for patience from those seeking for social services saying he is still around to provide them.

“No one will disrupt our peace because we are still powerful. Don’t worry about anything. We shall tarmac the roads. You should also repent the sin of little faith. You are like disciples who became impatient with Jesus when they were crossing the lake. We have constructed Ishaka-Kagamba and many other roads, we shall not fail to work on this one. Be patient with me,” Museveni said at Mutanoga playground in Kigarama sub-county during a Thanksgiving organised by newly elected Sheema North MP Naome Kibaaju.

The President was responding to requests from area leaders who reminded him of unfulfilled pledges such as tarmacking Bwizibwera- Kabwohe- Kitagata road and supporting to Ankole Western University.

But the President assured the resident that since he has constructed several roads in the past, he will not fail to construct theirs.

“Talk about education. In 1956, there were only six schools with primary seven in the whole of Ankole sub-region but now, all sub-counties in Sheema have secondary schools. Let’s be patient, all things will come.”

He also thanked the people of Sheema North for voting NRM candidates Elioda Tumwesigye (Sheema Municipality) and Kibaaju for Sheema North.

“Voting NRM is better than voting for FDC which capitalises of fighting against government yet NRM is the one in power. This lady from Buhweju, Koyekyenga is the one I see in meetings. I don’t see Mwijukye because he is busy fighting the sitting government. Always vote for people who reach at the centre, where there is sharing of the cake,” he said.

Ms Kibaaju thanked Mr Museveni for attending her victory party and supporting her to win the October election.

Kibaaju garnered 11,326 votes representing 60.3 per cent while Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Guma Nuwagaba garnered 7,322 representing 39.0 per cent. The invalid votes were 123 accounting for 0.7%.
