PARLIAMENT– Preliminary investigations by the select committee of Parliament investigating sexual violence in different institutions of learning indicates that some girls fear to go back home during holidays due to fear of being defiled by their fathers.

This simply means that the victims are not only sexually harassed at school bit also back home making their lives a living hale.

According to the chairperson of the select committee Robina Rwakoojo, some girls whom the members of the committee interacted with revealed that their fathers, teachers and head teachers defile them and this is one of the reasons some of them are hesitant to return to their homes for fear of being abused.

Rwakoojo noted that there is mismanagement of the evidence of the defiled girls by the enforcement officers which fails the prosecution process of such cases in courts of law.

She also noted that parents’ failure to talk to their children about the likelihood of being sexually abused by their relatives and other people in the communities has also contributed to the vice.

She added that most boys who are victims fear to report the cases due to fear of being victimized.
