Six UPDF soldiers involved deadly accident

Six UPDF soldiers have Monday evening November 12, been involved in an accident when their double cabin vehicle overturned (FILE PHOTO)

KALUNGU – Latif Zaake, the Southern Region Police Commander on Monday evening confirmed that six Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces (UPDF) soldiers have been injured in an accident along Masaka – Kampala highway.

Zaake said soldiers sustained injuries and are admitted at Masaka Regional Referral hospital.

They include Corporal Aluma Byajo, Private Asega Bernard, Okumu Twaha Samuel, and Joseph Odul.

Others are, Gaadi Esati and Corporal John Echuru all attached to Makenke Army barracks.

The soldiers were travelling to Kampala from Makenke Barracks in Mbarara.

The accident occurred at Kabale -Bugonzi in Bukulula Sub County in Kalungu district on Monday when a double cabin vehicle registration number BO4BF 116, in which the soldiers were travelling in lost control and veered off the road overturning several times.

Zaake says that police is investigating the cause of the accident.
